BIOGRAPHY
Treza Karg was born and raised in a small Midwestern countryside town, where her passion for art and photography blossomed at a young age. Her exceptional talent in both mediums was evident early on, though art remained her true calling. In high school, she served as a teacher’s aide in the art department and earned scholarships to attend prestigious art camp summer programs. Treza pursued an associate’s degree in art at college, but her studies were cut short in her second year when her mother fell ill and, following the loss of her father, she left school to work full-time. Undeterred, she continued to nurture her creativity, producing art and photography independently.
Initially, Treza gained recognition as a published photographer, but her focus eventually returned to her first love—art. Her journey took her from the Midwest to vibrant cities, living twice in Las Vegas, as well as in California and Texas. While in Las Vegas during the COVID-19 pandemic, she spent extensive time in the mountains, where she developed a profound connection with the wild horses roaming there. Photographing these majestic creatures became her passion and addiction, deeply influencing her artistic direction.
After relocating to Texas post-pandemic, Treza found herself without the wild horses that had become her muse, leading to feelings of depression. She turned to art as a therapeutic outlet, channeling her emotions into her work. The majority of her artwork features subjects she has photographed, with wild horses as a central theme. Treza describes her work as rooted in “a deep reverence for wildlife, serving as both subject and inspiration.” Through her art, she aims to foster an appreciation for the natural world and advocate for conservation, particularly for wild horses.
Now a full-time artist based in Texas with her husband, four German Shepherds and cat, Treza maintains a studio with a breathtaking view of expansive Texas oaks, where deer, squirrels, and birds roam freely. She frequently returns to the mountains to visit the wild horses that continue to inspire her. Currently, she is working on a series of paintings titled Chasing Dreams, which portrays sleeping wild horses and other wildlife, capturing their serene beauty. Treza’s art invites viewers to connect with nature and support efforts to preserve its wonders.
